Greek Statues on Delos
According to the inscription on the base of these statues, they were commissioned to commemorate a gift of money and two silver tridents the couple gave to the Temple of Apollo. Most of the statues from that time were made for reasons like this, a kind of self-promotion or advertising of something the person did.

Jefferson Memorial
There is something powerful about standing in the Jefferson Memorial and reading the words of the Declaration of Independence. It makes me sad (and angry) when United States citizens don't know their history. Last night on Jay Leno, he asked people questions from the citizenship test and they didn't know what year the declaration was signed or who we were declaring independence from.

The U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
We lived in Maryland for a year and made frequent trips to our nation's capital. It was great because we didn't have to see everything in one visit. I loved taking pictures of all the buildings, memorials and monuments. My day was perfect if the the weather cooperated and the skies were blue.
I've done this puzzle in a 50 piece tri-clip. You can solve it online at JigZone by clicking on this image.

You can see more photographs of the arch on Rambling Traveler. I liked this view so much, I bought a watercolor painting of it from a street artist.
