Neighborhood Gardens

gardenOur neighborhood is planning an entrance garden to our cul-de-sac. Doug and I were looking at other neighborhood gardens for ideas, and this one caught our eye. Our garden will be simpler, but I liked this design.

Boats of Doo Lough

boats, doo lough, county mayoDoo Lough (pronounced like the Scottish Loch) is in County Mayo and is the location of a memorial to those who died in the Famine Walk of 1849.

In 1849, hundreds of starving people walked the 10 miles from Louisburgh down to the Delphi Lodge, hoping to get food for their families. They were turned away, and hundreds of people died on the walk back to Louisburgh.
